Futura Design has completed a customisation of a Mercedes ML for renowned rugby union star, George Robson.
Mark Abel, CEO of Futura Group, was approached by George Robson, former England and Harlequins and current London Irish star for rugby, to customise his vehicle having heard the capabilities of the company.
Mark commented; “Working on design prototypes, the majority of our client projects can never reach the public domain. However, on this occasion, it is nice to share a bit of information about this particular project.”
The bespoke Mercedes was in the limelight in London recently, when driving George to training; it attracted attention from some of England’s Rugby stars who were also training at the facilities. Enquiries have since come flooding in.
Mark, who has played alongside George at England Youth level and also at Harlequins thinks the car reflects George’s individualism well and has given his vehicle a very strong presence on the road, boasting a custom satin wrap, 22” wheels, lowered suspension, painted trim parts and various other subtle modifications.
George Robson currently plays for London Irish, but is a local lad from Stourbridge, having started his school rugby career at Old Swinford Hospital only a stones through from Futura’s origins. His career highlights include 2012 Aviva Premiership Champion, Captaining England’s Tour to South Africa and being 2011 European Amlin Challenge Cup winner.
Robson played and captained England Under 16s and played for England Under 18s and went on to lead the senior England team to victories over both the South African Barbarians South and North teams. With over 150 appearances for Harlequins, winning both domestic and European titles with the club, Robson holds his own.
